CCpur, May 16 2021:
To tackle the growing need of medical oxygen in the State as a result of the pandemic's second onslaught, Tribal Affairs and Hills Department will soon be placing orders for oxygen plants that will be installed in six hill districts, TA & Hills minister Vungzagin Valte said today.
The decision to place order for the oxygen plants was taken with the Chief Minister as it is felt that adequate availability of oxygen will give the State a big advantage in tackling the pandemic, he said.
Informing the plans of AT & Hills to reporters today at his Churachandpur residence, Valte claimed that sanctions for six oxygen plants with a capacity of filling 200 cylinders per day at Churachandpur, Chandel, Ukhrul, Senapati, Kangpokpi and Tamenglong have been made by the department.
Orders for the same will be placed in a day or two he said adding, the company concerned has assured the department that the installation will be completed within 60 days of receiving the order.
These oxygen plants are over and above the ongoing construction for a 40 cylinder capacity plant at District Hospital, Churachandpur.
Valte also maintained that the Government is giving all efforts and leaving no stone unturned to tackle the pandemic.
Towards this end, sanctions have been made to place an order for one ALS ambulance and 2 BLS ambulances each for all the districts, he said.
Additionally, Valte appealed to the public to strictly adhere to Covid SOPs and to not simply panic due to the pandemic.
The Minister who is elected from Thanlon AC has claimed that a Village Level Covid Task Force to monitor movement of people at the village level in his home Constituency has been set up yesterday to control the spread of the pandemic and advise others to emulate the same.
The village level task force he said was set-up with the involvement of all stakeholders including the Government departments, and local NGos and Churches.
This, he believes, will go a long way in checking the spread of Covid-19 in far-flung rural areas.
As Minister in-charge of Churachandpur and Pherzawl, Valte plans to expand the congested road of Churachandpur town.
As requested by the State authorities, the NHIDCL has agreed to submit two proposals, one for a 25 meter stretch and the other for 30 meters.
A survey for the expansion will be conducted very soon by the authority concerned to assess the affected areas.
Once the survey is completed anyone will be free to make inputs and suggestions he said.
The survey will include areas located within Tuibong Bridge to Lanva Bridge.
