Imphal, April 16 2012:
The Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (Tangkhul Naga Headmen's Association) has expressed strong denunciation on the alleged siphoning off 25 percent of MGNREGS fund by the ADC members as their quota share from their Imphal's station.
A statement issued by the TNWL President AS Vaomi alleged that the 'illegitimate' ADC members are siphoning off MGNREGS fund by deducting 25 percent of the public fund as their share.
Stating that the 'imposed and stage managed ADC election' was declared null and void by the 3rd Naga People's Convention on July 1, 2010, the statement also asserted that the ADC election was never accepted nor recognised by the people.
Taking due advantage of being incapacitated to function in Ukhrul district, the 'illegitimate and self styled' ADC members are siphoning off various development and welfare funds of Ukhrul district through the Executive Director of DRDA appointed by the 'communal Government' of Manipur while the fund never reached the people, the headmen's statement said.
The Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long statement further added that the ADC members are now housed in Imphal after they were being chased out by the people, they could not function in the district.
The TNWL statement asserted that the drawing of development funds meant for Ukhrul district by ADC members in connivance with some bureaucrats and officers from Imphal would never serve the purpose of the people.
