Imphal, July 14 2021:
The Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has yet again expressed its concern over the continuous surge in the number of Covid cases in the State and deaths due to it.
AIMS, in a statement, called all for a collective fight against the disease and stressed on the importance of following Covid appropriate behaviours and sanitary habits.
AIMS further stated that it has conducted a massive drive to check sale of sub-standard sanitizers and detected scores of hand sanitizers lacking requisite standard and contents as prescribed by WHO sold in the market.
Warnings were also issued to those involved in business of these products to immediately stop the sale of sub-standard sanitizers, it said.
AIMS has even convened a meeting with the All Manipur Pharmacy and Druggist Associations and had resolved to allow sale of sanitizer, which has become an essential item during this pandemic time, to only licensed chemist shops and not in other shops.
Even though the resolution was made public, some people are selling hand sanitizers via social media and even in grocery stores, it said while appealing to immediate stop sale of such items.
AIMS also drew the attention of the Department concerned to conduct a drive to check the quality of hand sanitizers being sold in the State and check whether they are sold by responsible and licenced individuals.
The sub standard sanitizers can pose a serious threat rather than serving its purpose while costing similar amount of money to innocent and unaware people at the same time, it said while asserting that it would also recommence drive against sale of low quality sanitizers.
