'Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight' launched across Manipur

Bishnupur, June 12 2017:
The 'Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight' (IDFC) which is aimed at children (below five) suffering from diarrhoea and focuses on its preventive measures, was launched at various districts of Manipur today.
Bishnupur : MLA of Moirang AC and DC, Bishnupur launched the programme at Moirang Community Health Centre today.
The programme was organised by Community Health Centre, Moirang and District Health Society, Bishnupur under the supervision of National Health Mission.
Moirang AC MLA and Economic Advisor to CM Pukhrem Sharatchandra Singh, DC, Bishnupur Bobby Waikhom, Moirang Municipal Chairperson M Romibala Devi and Chief Medical Officer H Babychand Devi attended the programme as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
The programme focuses on eradicating 90% of the disease from children between the age of 0-5 in Bishnupur.
Speaking at the event, Pukhrem Sharatchandra stated that since the programme focuses mainly on children, there is a need for Anganwadi and ASHA members to work dedicatedly so that the programme is successfully executed.
Bobby Waikhom elaborated on clean living and clean eating practices and stated that the disease can be prevented not only by medicines but by keeping the children clean and providing them healthy food.
Senapati : Intensified Diarrhoea control fortnight was also launched at Senapati Thong Upper Primary School, Senapati today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman/DC, DHS Senapati, Athem Muivah appealed to all employees of different departments to join hands and make the initiative a success.
He remarked that State bagged the second position in successfully implementating the program last year and urged all to work harder to become the best State in the country in implementing the program this year.
Director/CMO (DHS), Senapati, H Loli Mao said, "IDCF is organised in the month of June as children below 5years are prone to this epidemic mostly during rainy season".
Stressing the need for maintaining personal hygiene, he displayed the 'Hand Washing Technique' which is one of the most important steps of maintaining personal hygiene and urged all the students present in the programme to teach the technique to their respective family members.
He further said that the program will continue for a fortnight in all the schools and Anganwadi centres throughout the district and added that ORS pouches will be distributed by ASHA workers to all houses which have children below the age of 5years and will also extend all necessary help if needed.
CEO, ADC Senapati, ADC staff, DI/AI ADC Senapati and staff of the Medical department also took part in the programme.
Thoubal : The Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal kickstarted the 'Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight' programme at Wangbal community hall today.
Organised by District Health Society (DHS), Thoubal, the programme was attended by DC, Thoubal and DHS, Thoubal Chairman L Nabakishwar Singh as chief guest, CMO, Thoubal and DHS Mission Director Dr N Jayantakumar Singh as president, District Family Werlfare Officer and DIO Dr N Ajendra Singh and District Programme officer of ICDS, Thoubal Shyama Devi as guests of honour.
Nabakishwar stated that the Infant Mortality rate of Manipur is still less compared to other States and added that ASHA and Anganwadi workers play a vital role in eradicating the disease.
Ch Basanta stated that ASHA workers will not only distribute ORS solution but will also provide awareness regarding the disease and its preventive measures.
