Imphal, April 11 2019:
Alleging that Chief Minister N Biren has violated the election code of conduct, Congress candidate in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency O Nabakishore has written to the Chief Election Commissioner to derecognise BJP and file an FIR against the Chief Minister "for crimes committed by him during the election campaign".
Referring to a one day political conference held on March 29 at Yumnam Khunou in Imphal East as a part of the election campaign, the former Chief Secretary alleged that Biren launched personal attacks on him and quoted him as saying, "A non-local is appointed as Chief Secretary by removing a local (A Meitei) person.
Subedar Khellen, a Meitei arrested Tikendrajit to get the latter hanged.
Was he not a Meitei ? How can we protect a native who acted in a manner to harm the Nation and the State ? He would have continued (as Chief Secretary) had he not been involved in scandal and case.
How can we allow him to hold the post (Chief Secretary) when he was involved in scandal? He is a person involved in sedition.
He is an enemy of the Nation and the State.
Had he done good works for the State, I would say good things, if he acted in a manner to harm the State and people, bad consequences have to follow...".
Alleging that the statement of the Chief Minister violates the model code of conduct, Nabakishore urged the CEC to derecognise BJP and take legal action against the Chief Minister.
