College gets food testing lab

Along with inaugurating the 'Food Testing Laboratory' of S Kula Women's College, Nambol Kongkhampat, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro attended a two-day national seminar on 'Gender & Racial Discrimination: The Paradigm of Women's Vulnerability' at the indoor hall of the College today.
The national seminar being organised by Human Rights Studies Centre of the College in collaboration with the College's Women's Studies Centre and Human Rights Alert, Kwakeithel was also graced by Nambol AC MLA N Loken as the president and Karong AC MLA Dr V Alexander Pao, Prof Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar of Dibrugarh University and Prof Amar yumnam of Manipur University as the guests of honour.
In his address as the chief guest, M Okendro expressed that the new food testing laboratory would not only enhance profile of the college but will also encourage the students to aim for higher academic goals and experiences.
Noting that S Kula Women's College is well-equipped in terms of infrastructure, he assured the Chief Minister would be consulted to grant recognition of the College as a full-fledged higher institution.
Further announcing that all possible measures would be taken up for setting up atleast one women's college in each of the district, the Minister asserted that through adequate infrastructure provision Government colleges would be transformed into reputed institutions where students would prefer to pursue higher studies.
MLA N loken, who is also the chairman of the College committee, claimed that the institution has progress in leaps and bounds in the past few years.
He also pledged his unflinching support and contribution to develop the College into one of the best in Manipur.
The technical session of the seminar commenced after the formal inauguration of the laboratory.
