CADA conduct awareness programme

Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) conducted a discussion cum awareness programme on the theme "Impact of drugs and substance abuse on society" at Khurai Thangjam Leikai Multipurpose Community Hall, Imphal East District, yesterday.
The programme was organised by Langdai Apunba NuPI Lup, Khurai Thangjam Leikai, in collaboration with Khurai Ahongei Meira Paibi, Khurai Chingangbam Leikai Meira Paibi, Khuraia Thoudam Leikai Meira Paibi, Khurai Kongkham Leikai Meira Paibi and CADA, Imphal East District Committee.
The programme was attended by President, CADA, Hijam Priyokumar, President, The Women Multi Development Association, Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Sanjenbam Dashu, President, North Eastern Sporting Union (NESU), Konsam Narendrajit, Vice President, CADA, Imphal East District Committee, Seram(O)Tamna and Corporator, ward no.23, Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC), Loushambam Romola as presidium members.
Vice President, CADA, Ningthoujam Doren stated that drugs and substance abuse not only ruined the lives of users but also have an adverse effect on the society as a whole.
He continued that the use of heroin (No.4) was started and spreads around the year of 1970s.He added that in 1991 Manipur government passed Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act 1991 at assembly and announced the land as a "Dry State" .
