Imphal, May 06 2013:
The proscribed UNLF has dismissed the claim of PIB (DW) which said that UNLF's Sgt Maj Salam Kunjabihari alias Tharoiba surrendered to Red Shield Division along with one M-22 rifle.
A press release issued by the outfit's Senior Publicity Officer Ksh Yoiheiba dismissed the claim as false and fabricated.
The PIB(DW) press statement published in local media today was a part of the Indian military's propaganda campaign called surrender drama.
Quoting PIB(DW) statement which gave the service number and batch number of the surrenderee as 886 and 13 respectively, Yoiheiba said that there is no one by the name of Kunjabihari alias Tharoiba against the said service number.
As per the service record of UNLF-MPA, the service number 886 was allotted to Ahanthem Ngamthang alias Chalamba s/o A Menjor of Phumlou.
Ngamthang alias Chalamba was killed in fierce gun battle with the Indian military on July 17, 2002 .
Again, service number 886 is not included within batch number 13, it added.
