Ministry officials to assess Tulihal

In connection with the initiative of the Civil Aviation Ministry to allow Tu-lihal Airport handle interna- tional flights, officials of the Ministry would be coming to Imphal to make spot assessment of the areas within the airport where Customs and Immi-gration offices would be opened.
An official source informed that Chief Secretary DS Poonia presided a meeting this morning where the introduction of international flights at Tulihal Airport was deliberated.
On the other hand, the State's plan outlay for financial year 2013-14 would be finalised between Chief Minister O Ibobi and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Aluhwalia on April 23 .
While finalising the State's plan outlay, officials of Health, Tourism, Sports, Art and Culture and Industries would make power point pre-sentations about the proposals of their respective departments.
For Industries Department, their presentation would focus on works taken up in connection with the Look East Policy.
In the meantime, Civil Aviation Ministry has been working to introduce international flights in Tulihal Airport from June this year.
The Ministry has been considering to introduce flight service including cargo service between Imphal, Bangkok, Chiangmai, Mandalay and Yangon.
On the other hand, officials of the Bureau of Immigration has made an assessment of the preparations being made at Moreh where Myanmarese nationals would be given visa on arrival.
It is reported that the State Government would take up the matter of improving road connectivity between Manipur and Myanmar.
Chief Secretary DS Poonia and Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai have already discussed about the visa on arrival system as well as the proposed Imphal-Mandalay bus service a few days back.
