Congress stages rally against UP incident

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) took out a protest rally today condemning the incident at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh where four farmers were allegedly run over by a car driven by the son of the Home Minister of that State and the arrest of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who went to meet the deceased family members.
Several Congress leaders including AICC election in charge for Manipur Jairem Ramesh, in charge of Manipur Bhakta Charan Das, National social media convenor Pranav Vachharajani, MPCC president N Loken, working president K Meghachandra, MLAs, ex-MLAs took part in the rally which was organised by MPCC in association with India Youth Congress (IYC) and National Students' Union of India (NSUI) .

The rally that commenced from Congress Bhavan made a u-turn at a traffic point at the western side of Kangla and blocked the road at the opposite side of its Bhavan (Johnstone Higher Secondary School side), disturbing the traffic movement for a brief period.
Later, the State police arrived at the scene and a brief stand off ensued.
At the rally, the Congress leaders shouted slogans accusing the BJP as killer of farmers.
They also chanted "Modi Government Down Down".
Speaking to the media, Bhakta Charan Das said that the fateful incident at Lakhimpur Kheri is a validation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Government at UP are anti-poor and anti farmers.
He also demanded unconditional release of political leaders including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who were arrested illegally and revelation of the truth of the incident.
N Loken also expressed disappointment over the 'undemocratic conduct of the BJP Government" .
