Imphal, May 04, 2013:
A district level political awareness campaign of Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State unit was kick-started today Chandel district headquarters indoor stadium.
The inaugural function was attended by Ukhrul AC MLA Samuel Risom, Chandel AC MLA ST Victor Nunghlung, NPF central office working president Huska Yepthomi, NPF Manipur unit working president Sword Vashum and NPF Manipur unit president Soso Lorho.
The campaign was also attended by village chiefs, civil society leaders and district level office bearers of NPF.
Speaking at the gathering, Huska Yepthomi stated that NPF's journey into Manipur is not aimed at disintegrating Manipur.
NPF which would complete 60 years in October this year forayed into the political arena of Manipur to provide a common platform for tribals and protect their identity.
NPF does not have any intention to create enmity with Meiteis or Kukis who have been living together for centuries, Yepthomi said.
Soso Lorho said that political problems being witnessed in the North Eastern States need to be tackled collectively with a spirit of unity.
As the ongoing political dialogue between Government of India and NSCN-IM has a direct bearing on the common people, NPF ought to work for an early solution to the political dialogue which should be acceptable to both sides.
There can be meaningful peace only when the political dialogue arrives at a solution.
Exuding that NPF would certainly become a powerful political party, Soso Lorho stated that people need to examine and analyse those elements and their activities which are aimed at communalising the situation by capitalising on administrative lapses.
Ex-Minister Aze lamented over the pathetic condition of the road from Pallel to Chandel district headquarters.
Recalling about Chief Minister O Ibobi's announcement made at Lui-Ngai-Ni festival at Chandel headquarters in 2004 that Pallel-Chandel road would be developed into a standard road, Aze decried that there has been no improvement in the condition of the road.
NPF Manipur unit secretary Athon Abonmai condemned the arson at Silent village in which more than 36 houses were burnt down.
Asking if there is no law enforcing agencies for protection of minorities, Athon questioned as to why the State Government still remains mute.
