Imphal, April 04 2021:
The self proclaimed de jure Government of Manipur (Government-in-exile) has categorically stated that its former Foreign Affairs, Defence and Finance in-charge Narengbam Samarjit was relieved of all his positions and duties on March 20, 2021 .
A press release issued by the Government-in-exile's media department said that all the positions earlier held by Samarjit were taken over by the Chief Minister (of the de jure Government) since March 20 soon after it came to light that Samarjit had intentions to go back to Manipur from his own social media post.
However, Chief Minister Y Biren was not informed when he (Samarjit) left London.
Even as Samarjit was asked to hand over official documents of the de jure Government which were with him, he was only buying time by indulging in all kinds of delaying tactics, it said.
Yambem Biren and Samarjit talked over phone on March 24 but the latter did not say anything about his plans to go to Manipur.
It was only through newspapers that the de jure Government came to know about the arrest of Samarjit by NIA from IGI Airport, New Delhi.
Although Samarjit did not submit any resignation letter voluntarily, it has been quite a long time since he was not assigned any work/duty of the de jure Government, it said.
It then appealed to all the people not to be disheartened by Samarjit's return to Manipur.
Samarjit did not do anything worthwhile when he was with the de jure Government.
Chief Minister Yambem Biren has been carrying out all the necessary processes progressively, it claimed.
