62nd Wild life week celebrated in Jiribam, Ukhrul

In view of the 62nd Wildlife week celebration, Divisional Forest Officer, Jiribam Forest Division Ch Ibomcha flagged off a cycle rally from RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Jiribam yesterday .
The rally was taken through Gularthol, Uchathol, Ningshingkhun, Chingdong Leikai, Dibong and Babupara and ended back at the school .
Placards reading “Protect Wildlife”, “Protect nature”, “Join hands to save animals” etc were used during the rally .
Speaking to media persons, Ch Ibomcha stated that the rally was organised to spread awareness on wildlife and forest and how to safeguard the vulnerable wild animals .
He urged all the people to extend assistance and support in saving the wild animals and forest .

The event was attended by MLA of Jiribam AC Md Ashab Uddin, DFO Jiribam Ch Ibomcha Singh and RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Jiribam Principal S Maniton Singh, SP, Jiribam M Mubi Singh as dignitaries .
Winners of the painting and essay writing competition organized, in connection with the celebration, were also awarded during the event .
Meanwhile, in ukhrul district, the Divisional forest officer cum District wildlife Warden, Ukhrul organized a, On the spot article writing and painting competition, as a part of observing the world Wildlife week at Ukhrul Public school (UPS) Viewland, Ukhrul yesterday .
Altogether 66 students from nine schools located under Ukhrul town participated in the competition .
According to DFO, Ukhrul Manglem Singh, the winners of the competition will be felicitated on October 6 at town hall.
