Protests against assaults 13 year old boy thrashed

Locals of Mayang Imphal today staged a sit-in-protest in denunciation of the bashing up of a boy who had been to Henbung village to drop a group of pilgrims.
Sagolsem Sageinganba (13) of Mayang Imphal Maibam Leikai was part of a team which had been to the village to drop the pilgrims for Koubru pilgrimage.
He was severely beaten up by five unknown people at the village, located at the foothill of Koubru peak, at around 11 am on March 31 last.
According to Sageinganba, he had been to the village with a team of pilgrims in two Tata Sumo vehicles on the day.
After all the pilgrims went up the hill for worshipping, the two drivers left for Motbung in one vehicle to buy some personal items, Sageinganba said and adding that he stayed back alone to man the other Tata Sumo as it was his father's vehicle.
Sageinganba added that five unknown persons came down from the hill and smashed the side mirror.
They not only demanded to give the key of the vehicle but also enquired whether Sageinganba belongs to PLA or KCP.
Upon Sageinganba's response that he is a student, they bashed him up mercilessly.
He was saved by the son of the village chief and some women villagers.
Sageinganba is a Class VII student of Sanatombi High School, Mayang Imphal.
Students of the school also took part in the sit-in-protest.
