Imphal, December 19:
Even after the period of one month the State Government has failed to furnish records as to whether the resolutions passed by the State Assembly to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur had been sent to the Centre or not.
The Upendra Commission had earlier asked the state government to furnish the documents to verify whether the government dispatched the resolutions to the Centre or not.
The Government has been seeking time for furnishing the documents and the Commission gave today as the last date for submitting the same.
Interestingly the Government Counsel today submitted before the Commission that the authority was unable to find any files pertaining to the matter.
The Commission today noted that the government has failed to furnish records on the matter, however an official of the Home Department may give his statement on the matter before the Commission tomorrow.
Mention may be made here that the State Assembly had passed four resolutions to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and opposed extension of the NSCN (IM) ceasefire to Manipur.
The last resolution was passed on March 22 this year during the tenure of Radhabinod Koijam.
Meanwhile Assembly Secretary Th Chourjit gave his statement before the Commission today.
He said there is nothing in the rule of procedure and conduct of business of Manipur Legislative Assembly which says that the Assembly Secretary can send any matter or resolutions involving any matter to the Centre.
