Tribal bodies urge State Govt

Strongly reacting to the suspicious death of 21 year old girl Reingamphy Awungshi at Delhi, tribal bodies like the Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL/Tangkhul women League) and All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) have sought the intervention of the State Government in bringing justice to the case.
The 21 year old student Reingamphy Awungshi from Chuithar village of Ukhrul District was found dead at her rented room at Chirag in South Delhi Wednesday morning.
President of Tangkhul Shanao Long AC Awon termed the incident as "a deliberate attack not only to the girl but to all the women folk" while giving the clarion call to all concerned women to fight for the gender rights.
Demanding immediate justice in the matter, Awon further urged the State Govt to intervene towards delivery of justice.
General Secretary of All Tribal Students Union, V Shatsang while vehemently condemning the unwanted incident, termed the act as barbaric and inhuman while also seeking the intervention of the State Govt in the case.
Shatsang urged the State Govt to pressurise its counter part Delhi Govt for delivery of justice without any delay" .
Pointing out that the present case is not an isolated one but part of the larger campaign of aggression on North Easterners, the ATSUM functionary said that the State Government should not remain as a silent spectator but should react according to the need of its citizen.
