Bird, turtle rescued

A Hoopoe (Sangairaba) was rescued from Langpok Maning Leikai yesterday.
According to a statement issued by PFA, the bird was found by one Ngangom Abung from his paddy field.
The bird got serious injury on its right eye.
It seems a pellet of air gun penetrated its lower jaw and damaged its right eye from inside.
Claws and Paws Veterinary clinic, partner of PFA Manipur is giving medical assistance to the injured bird.
Dr Devkishor feared that its eye might be completely damaged.
PFA also warned hunters, traders and individuals against using Hoopoe for treatment.
Meanwhile, a barn owl was also rescued from the office complex of Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, it said.
One M Lukhoi of Thoubal Mela ground found the bird bleeding in the morning.
Two more Malayan box turtles were also rescued.
One was rescued from the paddy field by one Okram Inaobi of Thoubal Ningombam.
Interestingly, the turtle got 'PFA' inscribed on its carapace indicating that it was once released by PFA at the marshy area of Ikop Lake, the statement said.
At the same time, D Korungthang Maring from Khulsaibung village of Chandel who is the former chairman of the Village Authority handed over another turtle.
He found it in a jungle while collecting fire woods, it said.
