Imphal, November 28 2022:
Cautioning on a volatile stand off on boundary among the districts of Manipur, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Joychandra Konthoujam has asked the State Government to resolve the issue at the earliest so as to avoid confrontations of any sort.
He made the remark while attending a One Day Farmer's Training Programme held at Torbung Community Hall, today.
At the function, Joychandra continued that the State Government must formulate a comprehensive policy to resolve the boundary issue which exists amongst majority of the districts in Manipur.
Claiming that the issue, if not resolved, might go out of hand and create animosity among the people, the UCM president appealed to the State Government to be cautious of the emerging scenario and do the needful.
He said that the boundary issue concerning Sugnu, Langol, Kakching, Phayeng, Andro, Chandel, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Jiribam, Tousem, Churachandpur and Torbung is a hot topic these day and it needs to be resolved before it creates bigger problems.
Claiming that such an issue arises due to the silence of successive Governments in Manipur, he further appealed to the incumbent Government to be prudent and resolve the district boundary issue once and for all.
He further claimed that there are some villages which come under two districts and such a situation can not only create misunderstanding, but also confuse the people who seek assistance from police or Government departments.
The training programme was organised by UCM in association with the Agriculture Department.
