Continuing its efforts to provide medical and emergency care to the people living in remote areas of Ukhrul, Ist Assam Rifles under the command of Colonel Raginder Singh has inaugurated a vocation training centre on November 14 last.
In all 12 boys and girls from the far-flung areas of AOR are undergoing first aid, medical and emergency care training at the vocational training centre.
Speaking during the inaugural of the vocational training centre, Col Rajinder Singh emphasised that the training programme being imparted to the boys and girls would help in saving the lives of the people in the remote area, which succumb to illness due to lack of knowledge and medicines.
He further assured that Assam Rifles would continue to provide emergency and life saving medicines to these �village medical assistants� after completion of the training course.
The training course is for a duration of 6 weeks and is based on the battle field nursing assistant training, which armed forces provide to its troops.
The villagers of Kamjong Sub-Division of Ukhrul district have expressed their gratitude to Ist Assam Rifles for this act of kindness, said PIB Defence Wing release.
Can beer seized: A mobile patrol team of 14 Assam Rifles have seized 564 cases of imported Can Beer worth Rs 2 lakhs from two Tata trucks bearing registration nos MN-04 A-0381 and MN05 A-1026 at Sapermeina yesterday afternoon.
Quoting Assam Rifles authorities, a PIB Defence Wing statement, said that the Tata trucks travelling on National Highway 39 from Moreh to Mao Gate were intercepted by the mobile patrol team of 14 Assam Rifles at Sapermeina.
