Govt assures Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia

The JAC formed in connection with the killing of Seigunlal Misao held a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren at the latter's official residence this evening.
Seigunlal Misao who was appearing in COHSEM's Higher Secondary (Class XII) examination was shot dead by some unidentified persons near Sharon Veng, Motbung Model village at around 8.30 pm on March 25 .
The meeting held this evening between the State Government and members of the JAC talked about the murder of Seigunlal Misao at length.
The State Government agreed to pay an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh to the bereaved family.
Further, the State Government assured that it would consider appointment of an eligible next of kin of the deceased to a suitable post under the Government.
As per an understanding reached at the meeting, police will expedite efforts to complete the investigation and to arrest the culprit(s) involved in the killing at the earliest.
In response, the JAC agreed not to resort to any agitation in view of the steps taken by the Government.
Earlier, the Chief Minister assured the JAC that all those involved in the killing would be pulled up and awarded befitting punishment as per law.
