Imphal, March 26 2023:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has hailed the leaders of both the Central Government and the State Government for removing the disturbed area tag from the jurisdictions of four more police stations thereby lifting AFSPA from the areas of 19 police stations of the State.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary K Sarat Kumar claimed that the Central leaders have demonstrated their deep empathy and love for the people of Manipur by lifting AFSPA from the jurisdictions of 19 police stations.
For removing disturbed area tag from the areas of Wangoi, Leimakhong, Nambol and Moirang without any pressure from the public, the BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary conveyed gratitude to the leaders of the Central Government and the State Government, particularly the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister.
He said that BJP strongly condemned the Congress party's attempt to project the Court verdict which sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in prison in a different light.
People know what the Congress party did when they were in power.
It is highly despicable that the same party is now trying to implicate both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Biren who have been working tirelessly for the welfare of the people, K Sarat Kumar said.
After Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, elections were held in some States but the Congress party could not win a majority in any of the States and it implies that Rahul Gandhi's march was a big failure, he said.
P Premananda Meitei, another general secretary of BJP Manipur Pradesh said that AFSPA was lifted from seven Assembly segments of the State after strong and sustained people's movement in 2004 .
This time AFSPA was lifted from the jurisdictions of four more police stations without any pressure or people's movement and it only shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's trust in the people of Manipur, Premananda said.
It was Central leaders' trust in Chief Minister N Biren which paved the way for fulfilment of the people's wish, he added.
