Joint meet resolves to support fight for justice

A joint meeting of AMSU, Meira Paibi groups and parents/guardians of student hostellers of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur was held today at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen, DM College campus in connection with the controversial death of N Babysana inside the school's hostel.
The meeting adopted seven resolutions and the same resolutions were announced to media persons by AMSU general secretary Bipinchandra Ahanthem in the evening.
The meeting resolved that rules and regulations framed by the authority of Standard Robarth Hr Sec School for hostellers and facilities related to security, protection, health care and food given to the hostellers should be put in public domain.
Parents/guardians would cooperate with investigating agencies towards establishing the facts and circumstances behind the death of Babysana, reads the second resolution.
Bipinchandra conveyed that the meeting resolved to urge the State Government to implement the Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) Act 2017.The meeting also resolved to keep away all students from the school's hostel until and unless all the people involved in Babysana's death are booked.
The Government should instruct all educational institutions of the State to strictly abide by the guidelines laid down by the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), reads the fifth resolution.
The meeting also resolved to take part and support any movement launched by the JAC constituted against the death of Babysana and the Joint Students Coordination Committee (JSCC).
It further resolved to take all belongings of hostellers such as dresses, books and other materials from the hostels of Standard Robarth Hr Sec School on July 27 .
