Training programme held

Manipur State Legal Service Authority
(MSLSA) in association with Social Welfare Department has kick
started a three-day training programme for the functionaries of
Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee, Special Juve-
nile Police Unit and Legal cum Probation Officer at the auditorium
of High Court of Manipur from today.
The inaugural function was attended by Acting Chief Jus-
tice of High Court of Manipur and Patron-in-Chief of MSLSA
Justice RR Prasad, Justice Kh Nobin and Principal Secretary
(Social Welfare) Moses Chalai as presidium members.
Giving his speech, acting Chief Justice RR Prasad said that
it is a must to hold such training programmes for the func-
tionaries of Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee,
Special Juvenile Police Unit and Legal cum Probation officer.
He expressed hope that the participants would get the
chance to delve into the new laws and regulations during the
training programme.
The acting Chief Justice said that the Juvenile Justice Act
had been passed long time back for the welfare and protection
of children's rights.
He asked the participants to work with dedication for the
welfare of children.
He said, "We all must know the right of
the children under the Act."
Speaking at the occasion, Justice Kh Nobin expressed hope
that the training programme would enable the participants to
gather more knowledge on new laws.
During the technical session, JPISC, Kolkata Professor
Joydip Majumdar spoke as a resource person on the topic
'Overview of child related issues in Manipur and salient
features of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015
and over view of draft rules'.
