District frontal organizations call for total lockdown on alternate days in Senapati

Senapati, June 23 2020:
Taking preventive measure to contain community spread of the dreaded COVID-19 disease in Senapati district, the Naga People's Organization (NPO) alongwith district frontal organizations including the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and the Senapati District Women Association, had called for alternate-day total lockdown in the DHQ areas.
The decision was reportedly taken in a joint meeting held on June 13, where the meeting resolved to allow opening of "commercial and business establishment including vehicular movements" on every alternate day in a week ie, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with effect from June 22 .
In this regard, the district frontal organizations sought the cooperation from all, for safety of each and every individual in the District.
Accordingly, all types of business establishments came to a halt today with all shops and other places of business shuttered down since early morning today.
Mention may be made that there are about 71 positive cases in Senapati district with 9 persons already recovered from Covid-19 till date after being treated at JNIMS and RIMS in Imphal.
All positive cases were reportedly tested from returnees who have been coming in to the State from different States in the country since April.
The modus operandi of the alternate-day lockdown is to close all shops and business establishments except pharmacies.
Movement of all private cars including two wheelers, taxis, autos other than medical related case, quarantine duties and media, shall be strictly prohibited.
However, inter-state transport vehicles shall be allowed.
All the Government offices including banks shall be exempted from the purview of lockdown which is stated to continue till further order is issued as mentioned by Information and Publicity secretary of the Naga People's Organization.
