State trade union to join all India strike

The Coordinating Body of Trade Union Manipur has announced that the body is all prepared for the All India general strike called on November 26 to protest the anti-farmers Bill and anti-labour policies introduced by the Central Government.
Speaking to media persons at AITUC's office at Irabot Bhawan, general secretary of State AITUC unit, L Sotinkumar stated that all preparations have been made to make the all India general strike called on November 26 from 6 am to 6 pm, a successful protest.
Kshetrimayum Santa, secretary of CIT State unit; Yumnam Rana Pratap, general secretary of INTUC State unit; Khomdram Gyaneshwar, secretary, TUCC and Kangjam Manoranjan, secretary of UTUC were also present at the press meet.
L Sotinkumar said that the general strike was announced by the Central Trade Union in protest against the laws and policies introduced by the Centre which are anti-people and anti-land in nature.
The strike has been called to protect the interest of farmers and working class people amidst the COVID-19 pandemic which the Central Government has failed to contain, he continued.
The Central Trade Union is demanding the Central Government to withdraw anti-farmer and anti-labour Bills; provision for depositing of Rs 7,500 to accounts of non-tax paying families; provision of 10 Kilograms of food grains every month to families in need; raising of MGNREGS working days to 200 with daily wage of Rs 600 wage for each worker; to prevent lay off of contract employees and re-introduction of previous pension scheme etc, he said.
The decision to call the Nationwide general strike was taken during an online meeting held with 10 Central Trade Unions from across the country on November 2 and it is supported by many other independent federations and organisations within organised and unorganised service sectors including, BSNL, AG, bank, insurance, transport, teachers, scheme workers, street vendors, he said.
Sotinkumar also appealed to all employees, labourers and public to support such a significant general strike protest.
