Security forces recover warlike store

Imphal, August 22 2015 :
A combined team of 40 Assam Rifles, Lilong post and Lilong police recovered a huge cache of ammunition from Waithou in Thoubal district today morning.
According to a reliable source, based on a specific information received by 40 Assam Rifles, Lilong post about the presence of some armed persons at Waithou area, the combined team rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area at around 6.20 am.
All the suspected underground militants had already fled the area when the security team reached there.

After a search of around 20 minutes using mine and metal detectors, a huge cache of ammunition wrapped in a cement bag was recovered.
The recovered items were 920 live rounds of .38 pistol, 21 live rounds of 303 rifle, one live 40mm lethod shell, one I-com radio set made in Japan and one I-com battery charger.
Lilong police have taken up a case regarding the incident.
