Imphal, August 22 2011:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi is likely to attend an international conference at Tokyo being organised with the objective to encourage and enhance foreign investment
in India.
Chief Minister was given a special invitation by the Advisor to Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Innovation Council S Pitroda who is taking main role in organising the Tokyo conference, informed an official source.
However, no definite date has been fixed for the Chief Minister's Japan tour in view of the restive situation prevailing in the State consequent upon the SHDDC's general strike and blockade which has been compounded by the UNC's total blockade.
Should the Chief Minister attend the Tokyo conference, he may leave for Japan in the last week of August.
However, the conference has been already scheduled on September 5 .
After the trip to Japan, Chief Minister may join the Empowered Committee of Finance Ministers in their tour to Brussels, Paris, Luxemburg and Madrid.
