Meeting PM on Irom Sharmila's wishlist

Anti-AFSPA campaigner Irom Chanu Sharmila has expressed her desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her stay in New Delhi for her appearance before the Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House Court regarding the trial case taken up by Parliament Street police station for holding an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar demanding repeal of AFSPA in October 2006 .
Sharmila is likely to be taken to the National capital on March 28 for her scheduled Court appearances of March 29 and 30 .
She was today brought before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West regarding a case taken up by City police station for staging hunger strike at Shahid Minar on February 29 .
During a brief interaction with reporters at Cheirap Court complex, she expressed her desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her stay in New Delhi.
Earlier, she appeared before the Court under Cril Misc (R) case number 22 of 2016 with reference to FIR No 31(3) 2016 of City police station under Section 309 IPC.
Sharmila submitted that she does not need any counsel to represent her to pray for bail as she has never tried to commit suicide.
After Sharmila refused to secure her release on bail with a PR bond, the Court sent her to judicial custody till April 5 .
Meanwhile, the Court permitted the authority concerned to take Sharmila to New Delhi for her appearance at Patiala House Court.
In response to Manipur Central Jail SP Th Subhaschandra's application, the Court issued an order in this regard on March 17.Sharmila is scheduled to appear before the Metropolitan Magistrate of Patiala House Court on March 29 and 30 .
The Court ordered the authority concerned to take her in their safe custody and produce her before the Metropolitan Magistrate as per the production warrant/order and bring her back to the State safe and sound if further custody of Sharmila is not required by the Metropolitan Magistrate of Patiala House Court.
Meanwhile, a reliable source said that Sharmila would be taken to New Delhi by the staff of Manipur Central Jail for four days on March 28 .
Sharmila is likely to be accompanied by the Assistant Jailor of Manipur Central Jail, a female jail warden, two police officers of Imphal West and JNIMS medical team.
The Department concerned of the State Government has already sanctioned travel expenses for Sharmila's trip to New Delhi, the source said.
It may be mentioned that a case is still pending at Patiala House Court against Sharmila in connection with her hunger strike staged at Jantar Mantar in October 2006.Sharmila had missed her last four appearances of February 3 and 4 and December 15 and 16 .
