Three MLAs have taken nomination forms for the scheduled election to elect a new Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The MLAs who have taken nomination forms are L Nandakumar of Uripok Constituency, I Hemochandra of Singjamei Constituency and Moirangthem Hemanta of Wangjing Tentha Constituency.
Incidentally, all the three intending candidates are MLAs of the ruling Congress party.
Nomination forms for the election to the Speaker's post scheduled to be held at 10 am of December 23 can be submitted till 12 noon of December 22 .

As testifed by the three MLAs taking nomination forms, the Congress party is unable to propose a single candidate based on consensus for the Speaker's post.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Chief Minister O Ibobi would be arriving here before commencement of the Assembly session scheduled to begin from tomorrow.
After his arrival, the Chief Minister would be working to find a consensus candidate for the Speaker's post before the stipulated time for submission of nomination form lapses, conveyed a source.
