Pine-apple fair kicks off

Imphal, June 21 2012:
The annual pine-apple fair was kicked off today at Thambalnu Market complex under the aegis of the Development Organisation Andro Kendra.
Altogether 280 metric tonnes of pine-apple are being sold at 150 stalls specially opened for the fair which would continue for five days.
The opening ceremony of the 5th State Level Pine-Apple Fair was attended by many eminent personalities of the State.
The pine-apple fair is being organised to promote pine-apples of the State in international markets and at the same time encourage pine-apple growers of the State.
The opening function was graced by Education Minister M Okendro, RD&PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, MLA Th Shyamkumar and Development Organisation Andro Kendra president Md Fakaruddin and Tulihal Zilla Parishad Member K Nilkamal as presidium members.
As a part of the fair, Miss Pine-Apple Queen Contest would be held on the fourth day.
