Imphal, February 20 2023:
The Trained Nurses' Association of India, Manipur State (TNAI-MSB) and Manipur Government Services' Federation (MGSF), in a separate statement, have extended solidarity to All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) which is in strike since February 14 .
Notably, AMHSDA has been shutting down Government hospitals since February 14 over the non fulfilment of their four demands viz time bound promotion; extension of superannuation age of specialists and non-specialist doctors to 65 years; inclusion of NPA in the basic pay with effect from January 1 of 2016 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission; and amendment of the 'outdated' MHS Rules 1982 .
TNAI, in its statement, said that nurses cannot perform their duties in the absence of doctors and the healthcare infrastructure will collapse if AMHSDA continues their agitation.
Not every citizen can afford to seek health care services at private hospitals or in other States, the association said and appealed to the Government to address the demands put forth by AMHSDA urgently.
MGSF, on the other hand, said that the agitation of AMHSDA has taken a toll on the public.
Claiming that the demands being raised by AMHSDA are legitimate, the Federation appealed to the Government to hold a talk with the agitating doctors and work out a solution in the larger interest of the people.
