Cancel trip to Ukhrul : TNL to CM

Expressing deep apprehension that there may be a huge uproar if the Chief Minister and his council of Ministers visit Ukhrul for the inauguration programmes, the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) today declared that it would be in the best interest of everyone for the Chief Minister to cancel the proposed visit.
The TNL is not against the inauguration as such but it is against the visit of the Chief Minister and his council of Ministers.
Instead of the Chief Minister and others, the power sub-stations and others may be inaugurated by departmental officers, suggested the TNL.
Briefing media persons today, TNL president Weapon Zimik said that a series of meeting has been held with Tangkhul civil society organisations at the village level and all are against the proposed visit of the Chief Minister and his team on October 24.The district security has also been alerted about the possible outbreak of violence if the visit is not cancelled, he claimed.
The CM and his men are supposed to inaugurate SDO/BDO office, bank building, 32 KV substation, 132 KV substation and district hospital at Ukhrul.
The Tangkhul community has also re-affirmed and reiterated the declaration of Naga Peoples' Convention 2010.We will not back-off from the stance of severing all ties with the Government of Manipur, added Weapon Zimik.
