Suspected thief lynched

Imphal, May 17 2016:
A man who slipped inside a house allegedly with an intention to commit theft at Thangmeiband Lilasing Khongnangkhong at around 4.40 am today was rounded up and thrashed by local people, and the man later succumbed to the injuries.
The deceased could not be identified till the time of filing this report.
The man was found unconscious and he succumbed to the injuries at around 8.30 am at RIMS.
He was wearing a grey T-shirt over a white shirt striped with blue and a track pant.
He was not wearing any shoes.
According to a press release issued by the OC of Imphal police station, the man was not very fair (kulei kuchu) and measured around 5'2" in height.
His hair was short and black.
The corpse has been deposited at RIMS mortuary for post mortem.
The corpse would be disposed off in accordance to the law of the land if the same is not claimed by May 19, said the OC's statement.
