Imphal, April 16 2019:
Asserting that no political party will be able to prevent Narendra Modi from returning as the country's Prime Minister for a second consecutive term, Chief Minister N Biren has suggested people to accept money if they are offered by Congress or CPI but to vote for BJP.
The Chief Minister was speaking at an election rally held today at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel.
Saying that people suffered a lot under the previous Government as bandhs and blockades were imposed every now and then, and people had to stand in queue in front of oil pumps overnight, and over 1500 people were killed in fake encounters, Biren appealed to the gathering to vote for BJP if the people should avert recurrence of such a miserable situation.
He suggested voters to accept money if Congress or CPI offer them.
Congress ruled the State for 15 years and they had amassed huge funds but vote for BJP, he said.
Within a period of just two years, the BJP-led Government has launched CMHT, Ujjwala scheme, pension scheme for disabled persons and Go to Village Mission has covered 99 per cent of the State's total 2700 villages.
The mission will continue so that all the areas which have been left out are covered, said the Chief Minister.
The Government has also opened free coaching facility for students who wish to appear in UPSC's civil services exams.
Delhi-Imphal direct flight service has been launched and seven women markets have been inaugurated at hill district headquarters, he said.
Biren said that CPI's Dr Nara is adorable but his time has passed.
Works Minister Th Biswajit and Dr RK Ranjan too spoke at the rally.
