Imphal, October 15 2017:
The acute shortage of LPG refills witnessed in the State sometime back has been improving gradually as a result of the hectic efforts made by the IOC and the State Government .
Information received from the Sekmai bottling plant said that the LPG situation has improved considerably .
Altogether 27 bulk LPG TTs arrived at the plant yesterday too followed by 30 others today .
With the arrival of 57 bulk LPG TTs today and yesterday, today opening stock of LPG at the Sekmai bottling plant was over 500 MT .
IOC has 152 TTs based at Imphal.
Out of them, the number of inoperative TTs has come down to just around 15.All TTs which were out of order have been repaired and put to service to the maximum possible level, informed the source .
Bulk TTs which arrived yesterday and today could not be unloaded as many of the drivers belong to far off places and no bottling was done today.
Nonetheless, bottling operation would be carried out in full swing tomorrow .
Notably, several militant organisations called total shut down throughout the State today as a part of the 'National Black Day' observance.
At present there are just around 30/40 empty bulk LPG TTs at Imphal.
The frequency of ferrying bulk LPG has been increased to the optimum level.
And all Manipur-bound bulk LPG TTs are being loaded on priority basis at different loading points located in Assam .
However, the arrangement to bring LPG to the State using 30 bulk TTs of Assam as a one time measure would be aborted, informed the source.
