Imphal, July 15 2021:
All Manipur Muslim Development Committee and All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation strongly denounced the order issued on July 13 by SP of CID (CB) instructing all SPs of all districts in the State to stop slaughtering and transportation of animals ahead of Idul Zuha festival and warned of strong form of agitations if the order is not revoked within 48 hours.
The two organisations in separate statements said that such an order by the Government has hurt the sentiments of the Meitei Pangal community in the State.
Stating that 'Qurbani' (sacrifice) of animals is a religious practice of the Muslims which have been conducted since time immemorial, the organisations stated that there have been no ban on such practices by any authorities till date.
Reacting strongly against the order, the organisations termed that it is an open attack to all who follow Islam faith in the State and is against the ideals of a democratic nation and is a discriminatory move which may disrupt the peaceful coexistence among the different communities of the State.
Asserting that the Muslim community can never accept such a move from the Government, the organisations urged all the concerned to revoke the order within 48 hours failing which they may have to resort to stringent form of democratic protests.
