An Assistant Professor in the Dept of Anthropology, DM College of Science has been accused of collecting huge amount of money from unsuspecting public (loanees) on the pretext of providing loans.
Convener of the Affected Loanees of JAC Against Dr Pukhrambam Inakhunbi Devi, Shivakumar Ngangom in a press meet held today at AMSU HQs informed media persons that teachers are regarded as mentors of society.
Besides having such respect and reputation the teacher has fooled more than 2000 innocent people from different parts of the State with the false pretext of giving loans.
She collected huge amount of money with a loan promise through Disha Fin Consultant Pvt Ltd, a 'bogus' company.
He alleged that the teacher promised the loanees to provide business loan, property loan, project loan etc.
But till today none of the loans have been given to the loanees.
Amount was collected from the loanees since 13 years back.
Some of them had deposited more than Rs 3 lakh, he added.
Representing the affected persons, he demanded that the deposited money should be refunded to the owners by the teacher at the earliest.
He said that she was approached many times from 2009 till today asking her to return the deposited money but she keeps on delaying returning the money.
She assured to give 50% of the total amount today by 3 pm and the remaining on May 5.But she has failed to deliver her assurance, he said.
He further said that the JAC will submit a memorandum to the Education Minister and demand her termination from service.
He demanded that the State authority should work to prevent such fraudulent activities in future and take up stringent action against defaulters.
If the State authorities fail to take any positive steps, the JAC along with All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) and other CSOs will launch steps to curb such menace in future.
Secretary of Human Resource Development, AMSU, Kapilchandra N demanded that the State Govt to look into the matter and devise a step to prevent such incidents in future.
Further he urged the people of the State to remain vigilant and not to trust any agency or company promising loan or any forms of benefits against payment of certain amount of money.
