Senapati, October 14 2020:
Discontented with the findings of the Enquiry Committee over the death of former MSU president and tribunal general A Mayili Charana, the Mao Student's has set a new deadline with demands for more medical facilities in the district.
A statement issued by its JAC, noted that the Mao Students' Union Joint Action Committee (MSUJAC) having obtained prompt response from the State Government with regard to Departmental enquiry reports on the untimely demise of late A Mayili Charana, has temporarily suspended the call for 'Total Bandh' which was earlier imposed on October 15, 2020.However, the MSUJAC expressed displeasure and dysphoria with the Enquiry Committee's report and after a threshold deliberation, considered the findings to be one sided and that it have overlooked many aspects of the situation.
It stated that the report of the Enquiry Committee was out on October 9 and the MSUJAC had questioned the Government as to why the reports of intimation were delayed.
The Union further justified that point no 4(A)(i, ii and iv) of the report was unsubstantial.
The patient was delayed treatment at SDH, Mao and no such pressure as mentioned in sub-clause (iv), was applied upon the wound to control the bleeding of the patient.
The MSUJAC also expressed shock at the penalty of 'censure' in the reports, imposed upon Dr Thou Barou as the union feels that Dr Thou Barou had nothing to do with the demise of late A Mayili Charana.
It also questioned the responsible authority as to why an ambulance parked in the SDH, Mao premises was denied permission for utilisation on the fateful day and questioned why the shortage of medical facilities and medical staffs at SDH, Mao, and District Hospital, Senapati were omitted in the Departmental enquiry reports which were verbally assured on August 19 by the Committee.
The MSUJAC feels that the Government should also be equally responsible and not hold the doctors accountable by awarding them penalty of censure and suggestsed the Government to improve the overall system of Sub District Hospital, Mao and District Hospital, Senapati by implementing adequate manpower and resources.
In this regard, the MSUJAC has placed the following demands namely, posting of specialist doctors at SDH, Mao and District Hospital especially paediatrician, dermatologist, microbiologist, radiologist; immediate setting up of a blood bank and setting up of major operation theatre at both the aforementioned hospitals.
The JAC has demanded the Government for immediate addressal of the problems for the welfare of the general public of Senapati district.
Further, it stated that it will not accept the said issue to be politicized and will not leave any stone unturned til justice is delivered, failing which, the MSUJAC will resume its course of agitations in the form of 'Total Bandh' from October 20 .
