At least one pro-cease fire woman rallyist was injured this morning at Tadubi under Mao police station when security personnel resorted to firing to quell a group of rallyists even as the 47 the �Naga Independence Day� was celebrated widely in the Senapati district.
According to official sources, against the appeal of the 3 Assam Rifles authority not carry out any form of agitation on the national highway.
Several villagers from Mao to Tadubi were trying to organize human chain rally along the national highway against the recent government of India�s decision to confine the cease-fire with NSCN (IM) to Nagaland.
While trying to prevent the agitation, a brief scuffle occurred between the agitator and the A R personnel prompting the latter to resort to firing.
One woman was injured during the security crackdown.
She was identified as one A Lolia, 40, of Shajouba village.
She received bullet injury at her leg and was evacuated to the local public health centre.
It further said in connection with the incident, a meeting at tended by DC Senapati, SP and villagers were held this afternoon at Tadubi to discuss about providing assistance to the injured woman.
Meanwhile, the Naga People�s Organization, Senapati district, and the Senapati District Naga Women�s Union have strongly condemned the alleged high-handedness of the 3 AR team reportedly led by Cap KK Sharma leading the injury of three women � the other two being Ch Loli of Chakumai and Ch Prokreni of Makhel.
In connection with the incident, both the organizations demanded immediate removal of the 3 AR from Tadubi and appropriate actions against the Captain.
At Mao Gate, womenfolk in tradition dresses lined up along the road holding placards, and singing the popular theme of �We shall overcome�.
A shorter chain again formed outside Tadubi and like wise at every other township along the highway.
The longest however was at Senapati, where there were participants, mostly women, from many different communities.
A number of buses were also seen brings in participants from nearby villages and apparently from other districts as well.
