Cold storage facility comes up at Mao

Chief Secretary O Nabakishore Singh inaugurated the Integrated Cold Chain Project of the Associate Action for Progressive Society (AAPDS) under Cold Chain Scheme, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India was by on November 12 .
The inaugural function was attended by Athikho Chalai, Accountant General, Government of Nagaland; Thaithuilung Pamei, Commissioner, TA & Hills, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur; C Arthur W, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, as guests of honour.
A Solomon Enah graced as the functional president.
The cold storage facility with a capacity of over 3000 matric tonnes was facilitated by the functional president A Solomon Enah.
The facility will encourage farmers to grow more vegetables and fruits without the fear of them decaying soon.
It can also enable farmers to earn profit by selling their produce off season.
The programme started with an invocation of blessings by Reverend Koda, Executive Secy, MBCA and a welcome note from K Adani Choro, former Mao Council president.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore Singh said he is surprised to see a cold storage facility emerging in a short period of time.
Stating that the facility will go a long way towards developing agriculture and horticulture in the State, the Chief Secretary appealed to the people to make good use of the facility.
He congratulated the proprietor of AAPDS for the success of the facility and assured to provide needed assistance in the future.
Around 1000 people from all walks of life attended the function.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by S Chiluyio, secretary, ME MBCA.
