Asserting that the SPF Government understands and respects the sentiments and wishes of the people, Chief Minister O Ibobi today appealed to all to maintain peace so that normalcy may return.
In a statement issued to the press today, the Chief Minister said that his Govt decided to lift the Disturbed Area Act from the Imphal Municipal areas despite the opposition of the Centre and assured that though the demand of the people could not be met in full, no efforts will be spared to lift the said Act from the whole of the State, if peace returns.
The Chief Minister said that the decision to lift the DAA from Imphal Municipal Council was taken as the State forces can man these areas.
To work out an amicable solution, the Chief Minister has also invited leaders of the 32 organizations to talk things over and chart out future course of action in the interest of the people.
The Govt's door is always open for any dialogue, he added.
The Chief Minister also expressed regret over the injuries and inconveniences caused to the general public during this tumultuous period and stressed that his Government also shares the aspirations of the people.
