Continuing that the State Government is all set to inaugurate the three treatment plants on Jun 15, the Minister said that shortage of water in the State will be solved to some extent after the two water treatment plants start functioning.
Other water treatment plants which are undergoing repairing and renovation works will also be inaugurated one after another, he said and added that maintenance and operation of sewage disposal systems will also become more decent after the inauguration of the sewage treatment plant in Lamphelpat.
Recalling that the State Government sent a proposal to New Development Bank (NDB) to sanction Rs 3,000 crore to provide tap water connection facility to every household in rural and urban areas of both hills and valley districts of Manipur, the Minister said that the project will be launched within 4 or 5 days by the Chief Minister.
Like healthcare professionals, media, police, club and CSOs volunteers, officials and staff of PHED are also COVID-19 warriors as they are the one who makes water available in vulnerable sections such as people in relief camps, places of quarantine, hospitals and to the general public amid the lockdown, he said and appealed to the public to acknowledge the work of PHED officials and encourage them.
The department has also set up two toilet facilities in Mao Gate and Jiribam for the returnees and drivers, apart from setting up several toilets in quarantine centres of hill districts such as Mao (100), Karong (100), Senapati (100), Tamenglong (100), Ukhrul (100), Kamjong (50), Chingai (100), Churachandpur (100), Chandel (100) .
Every quarantine centre in for Imphal has toilet facilities.
