Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has greeted the people, especially the Muslim people, on the holy occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha.
Explaining that Id-Ul-Zuha means "festival of sacrifice", the Governor said that the festival signifies the spirit of sacrifice for the greater good of all, beyond one's self-interest.
The message of this festival holds a strong relevance today more than ever, with turmoil and mistrust shrouding the people, said the Governor and urged all to replace any ill-will and negative differences by peace and harmony.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, has also greeted the people, particularly the Muslims of the land on the occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha.
In his message the Chief Minister said that this festival reminds all of the heavy sacrifice prophet Ibrahim made for mankind, which should inspire all to dedicate themselves to causes that are noble and progressive for all.
He hoped that the occasion will bring peace and prosperity to Manipur.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has also greeted the people on the occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha.
Greeting the people, particularly the Muslim people, the Deputy Chief Minister in a statement recalled the story of how Ibrahim was ready to go to the extent of sacrificing his own son on the instructions of the Almighty.
Praying that the festival ushers in an era of peace and communal harmony, Gaikhangam expressed hope that the festival ushers in an era of peace, understanding and prosperity to the people of the land.
Greeting the people, particularly the Muslims of the State, Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwar Singh expressed hope that Id-Ul-Zuha brings social harmony and peace to the State.
Major General VS Sreenivas, IGAR (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles have also extended their warmest greetings for Bakra-Id.
This is one of the most important festivals for Muslims, which celebrates the virtue of sacrifice, said the IG in a statement.
He also conveyed his wishes for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, peace and harmony among the people.
GOC Red Shield Division has also extended his best wishes and greetings to the people on the occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha.
Urging the people to promote peace on the occasion of the festival, the GOC prayed for peace and harmonious co-existence among the people.
