Imphal, April 12 2015 :
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has urged the JNIMS Director to implement the 200 Point Roster of Manipur Reservation of Vacancies in Post and Services of SC and ST in respect on daily wage earners engaged in JNIMS.
ATSUM has submitted a written appeal to the Director towards this end.
According to a press release issued by ATSUM president Muan Tombing, altogether 455 daily wage earners have been engaged in JNIMS during the past 4/5 years in the course of the authority's relentless efforts to obtain Medical Council of India's recognition for JNIMS.
A Cabinet meeting held on May 12, 2014 decided to adopt all the 455 daily wage earners as contract staff.
As no formal reservation policy was followed at the time of engagement, blunt adoption of wage earners as contract staff would amount to putting salt to the wounds of tribal people and other minority communities, added ATSUM.
Muan Tombing appealed to the JNIMS authority to implement the 200 Point Roster of Manipur Reservation of Vacancies in Post and Services of SC and ST in respect of daily wage earners engaged in JNIMS before the adoption of daily wage earners as contract staff materialises.
Failure to look into this demand positively would compel ATSUM to all launch different forms of agitation, it added.
