Imphal, September 11, 2010:
Sanjay Dadlika, who has been appointed by the Central Election Authority of the AICC as in-charge of the scheduled MPCC presidential elections arrived at Imphal today.
He is set to take opinions of PCC members and DCC presidents one after another tomorrow.
PCC members and DCC presidents constitute the electoral college of the presidential election.
Already, September 12 and 13 have been fixed for filing nomination papers whereas polling would be held on September 17. However, party authorities have been working to appoint a consensus candidate between aspiring candidates incumbent president Gaikhangam and Pollution Control Board Chairman Elangbam Dwijamani by seeking opinions of the PCC members and DCC presidents.
Sanjay Dadlika will seek opinions of PCC members, DCC presidents as well as former MPCC presidents starting from 8 am tomorrow at Congress Bhavan to find out which candidate they favour more.
Nomination papers may be filed after obtaining opinions of all the voters tomorrow itself.
Soon after arriving at Imphal this afternoon, Sanjay Dadlika held a meeting at Hotel Classic with Pradesh election authority members L Manglem, A Pramodini and APRO Bidyapati Senjam.
Later, he called on MPCC president Gaikhangam and Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking to some media persons at Congress Bhavan, Sanjay said that all preparations have been made to hold elections.
He said that all efforts would be made to elect a popular candidate.
Ascertaining opinions of the PCC members and DCC presidents is a fundamental process of the scheduled election, he added.
