A labourer has been killed and another injured after falling from the top of an under-construction building while a nine-year old girl has been electrocuted in an unrelated incidents.
The deceased labourer and his injured colleague are informed to be among a team of 20 workers engaged in the construction of a multi-storey building inside the 5 Assam Rifles campus located at Maram of senapati district.The incident reportedly took place at about 9 pm yesterday when the other workers had gone to sleep.
It is said that the victim Yumnam Ibungo (25) s/o Mangi of Leimakhong Chingmang and the injured person namely Koijam Tomba (35) s/o (L) Chandramani of Kanto Sabal were listening radio programme on the second floor verandah of the building, where the workers also sleep.
There is strong speculation that the two might have fallen from the building under the influence of alcohol for both had been drinking from early morning and skipped work yesterday.
As the co-workers were about to retire for the night, they suddenly heard a thud initially assuming that the sound was from the fall of a heavy object.
When they went out to inquire both Ibungo and Tomba were found laying on the ground with the transistor near their bodies.
Tomba has been brought to RIMS Hospital.
The electrocution mishap also took place under sepati district, at Lairouching at around 11.30 am today.
The victim girl Pundila d/o of Dalii of Lairouching is suspected to have accidentally touched a naked power line that was laying on the ground after snapping.
A police source said Pundila was a KG-II student of PP English School, Lairouching.
