Additional rice allocation for the month of April and given by the Government of India under National Food Security Act has been cancelled for all States which could not upload details of beneficiaries on relevant websites till date, and Manipur is one of the States whose additional rice allocation has been cancelled.
According to a source in Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) Department, list of NFS Act beneficiaries should be finalised and uploaded on relevant websites by April as per an earlier directive of the Government of India.

The list was prepared according to a ruling of the Supreme Court of India.
All the States which could not implement NFS Act by then were also intimated that the additional rice allocation would be cancelled if the list and details of beneficiaries cannot be uploaded by the first week of April.
The list of NFS Act beneficiaries for the State of Manipur cannot be finalized till date .
As such, details of beneficiaries cannot be uploaded on the relevant websites.
Meanwhile, Union CAF&PD Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has announced that the deadline for implementing NFS Act has been extended by six months for all States which could not implement the Act till date.
Additional rice allocation for the State of Manipur was 5962.75 metric tonnes, added the source.
