Imphal, January 09 2021:
Dhanamanjuri College of Science Students' Union on Saturday appealed to the DMU (Dhanamanjuri University) authority to reach an agreement with the agitating teachers of the constituent colleges of the university so that normal classes can be resumed at the earliest.
In a statement issued today, the student body said the class boycott stir of the teachers has affected the students and it may harm their career.
It may be noted that the teachers of the constituent colleges of DMU have been demanding the university authority to absorb them as the "first faculty" of the varsity before processing fresh recruitment of teachers.
The teachers have been boycotting online and offline classes for days now and held sit-in protests.
Stating that the students have been caught in the middle of the impasse between the teachers and the university authority, the student body said they should not be victimised and they need classes to resume at the earliest.
Other universities have started classes for even-semesters while DMU is yet to conduct classes for odd-semesters despite the fact that the university had issued notice to resume classes from January 4 recently.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has shut down universities, colleges and schools, the students need some form of classes and this shouldn't be denied.
The DMU authority should reach an amicable solution with the agitating teachers and save the careers of the students.
Classes should be resumed as soon as possible, said the student union.
