Imphal, December 08 2011:
CPI National Council Member and State Council Secretary Dr M Nara has ruled out any pre-poll alliance ahead of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
He was speaking at a one-day political convention organised by CPI Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Local Council at Kwakeithel Lamdong Leikai today.
Speaking at the convention, Dr Nara said that CPI would consider alliance with other parties only after the elections.
CPI would decide in which Assembly Constituencies it would put up its candidates in an executive meeting of the party scheduled to be held on December 10 .
Nevertheless, it can be taken for granted that for Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC, Oinam Malesh would get the CPI ticket.
There has been no Congress exclusive Government which lasted for full five years in the history of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
However, by forging an alliance with the CPI, Congress has completed 10 years in power, he said.
He further claimed that CPI should get the credit for dropping the Congress-led UPA Government's initiative to implement FDI policy in the country.
The convention participated by around 4000 people was also graced by Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat.
He appealed to the people to elect maximum number of CPI candidates in order to ensure speedy development and peace in Manipur.
