After the State Cabinet yesterday agreed in principle to the demands of the All Manipur Health Services Doctors Association (AMHSDA), including grant of NPA (Non Practising Allowance), the association has decided to call off all protests it had launched recently.
Addressing media persons at the premises of the Directorate of Health Services today, general secretary of AMHSDA, L Arke Singh said that the association welcomes the decision of the State Cabinet meeting yesterday.
A meeting of the Chief Medical Officers, representing the MHS (Manipur Health Services) doctors and Directorate of Health Services was held at noon today and decided to call off the protests, he said.
"The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh has agreed in principle to all the demands of the AMHSDA," he said adding the association had demanded Government and authorities concerned to grant NPA (Non Practising Allowance) @ 20% of basic pay to all MHS doctors, Allopathic, Dental and AYUSH.
The association had demanded treatment of the NPA as part of basic pay in the calculation of DA and other allowances and complete ban on private practice by the Government doctors.
The association had protested by wearing black badges and warned to cease work recently.
The association is thankful to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Health Minister L Jayantakumar Singh and the entire Cabinet, he said assuring full cooperation of the doctors in all health-related activities of the Government amidst COVID-19 .
